A Modern Day Nehemiah
"Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem." (Nehemiah 2:17). Let us willingly return home to our communities, and lovingly rebuild them. We know that achieving our heart's desire is an undertaking of the soul, and that one by one; brick by brick, we must each come forth to do that which is difficult, but must be done.
Our purpose is not to "save" but to strengthen what is already there, by replacing those bricks that have fallen from the wall. As unique pieces of a whole, we each know what we needed and didn't receive. We know what our spirits are missing to feel complete, to be whole. Let us give that. Let those be the bricks we use to rebuild our communities and the hearts, minds and spirits of our young men.
As a People in America, our common experience has provided us with the answer to the question, "What do we need?" "Quite simply," responds the Universe, "what you need is each other." So let us begin.
My challenge is to lovingly bring forth this vision. Nehemiah asked for what he needed and it was provided. So I'm asking you, to please come home and place your brick in the wall. We need you.
From my heart to yours,
